Yet another RIA website? If that’s what you’re thinking, no offense taken. This is an admittedly crowded field as there are many useful sources of information online. So why RIA Intel?
Before I answer that, let me quickly tell you about myself. I started my financial journalism career here at Institutional Investor in 1995 as a reporter and am thrilled to be back! Since then I have worked as a writer and editor for Bloomberg News, Yahoo Finance and more recently as Editor-in-Chief of Barrons.com for eight years. I joined Institutional Investor just last month after Kip McDaniel, Editor-in-Chief and Chief Content Officer, asked me to lead RIA Intel. Thank you, Kip.
Building on Institutional Investor’s 52 years of editorial excellence, we think there is a place for high-quality RIA news and insight that informs, persuades and entertains. With access to the best and most influential RIAs, we will focus on practice management, wealth management and investing while also publishing profiles and Q&As.
Given the abundance of RIA news online, we will avoid commoditized news unless we can add value. We will be discerning about what we cover and try to identify topics and trends that others may have missed. To quote former baseball great “Wee Willie” Keeler, we’ll try to “hit ‘em where they ain’t.”
We will emphasize quality over quantity, be colorfully authoritative and approach you, dear reader, with a fervent desire to help you best serve your clients. I have much to learn about the RIA business and am eager to hear what you like, dislike and want to read more about.
We hope our work will be talked about and resonate - for all the right reasons - while honoring Institutional Investor’s proud editorial heritage.
For starters, could you please do a small favor and read my profile on Josh Brown and Barry Ritholtz and let me know what you think?
It’s the top of the first inning. Let’s play ball!
